Summer Seafood and Wine

The season of fantastic wine and seafood.

>While there are no set rules for pairing wines and food,  it helps to keep the texture of the dish in mind while pairing it with a wine.

>Here are a few dishes from the sea and a few wines that you may want to pair with them.

>Shrimp:
Chardonnay or Chenin Blanc
(if you prefer breaded or tempura shrimp, go with a Sparkling Brut or a nice  Micro Brew)

>Crab:
Sparkling Brut or dry Riesling

>Tuna:
whites and reds will pair nicely
Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, or Merlot

>Sushi:
Dry Reisling or Sparkling Brut

>Salmon or Swordfish:
Because of its weightier texture, you can go with either white or red.
Pinot Noir is a perfect match!

>Raw Oysters:
Sauvignon Blanc, Sparkling Brut, Chardonnay, or dry Chenin Blanc

>You’ll find that a well paired wine and food can make all the difference! The wine enhancing the flavor of the food and the food intensifying the qualities of the wine.  The best part is it doesn’t have to be expensive- just pair simple, great tasting wine with great tasting food!
